COVID-19 Third Dose for Immunocompromised Individuals
As of August 16, 2021, a third dose is only recommended for people with certain serious
medical conditions or who receive treatments that weaken their immune system.
Eligible individuals for the third COVID-19 vaccine include:
- You 12 years of age or older
- You received two doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least 28 days ago
- You have a condition or receive treatment that weakens your immune system
Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine for Children
The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is now authorized for children ages 5 to 11 years. The best way to protect your child at school, around friends and at home is to get them vaccinated as soon as you can. Vaccinations are now available at any of our hospitals. Parents can make appointments using the COVID-19 Vaccine Scheduler. Walk-Ins are also available.
COVID-19 Booster Shots
NYC Health + Hospitals is now offering booster shots to eligible people if they received two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least five months ago.People who received two shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine should try to get the same vaccine as their booster, but they have the choice to switch to either of the other two vaccine types.Anyone 18 or older who received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago can now get a booster shot of any of the three types of vaccines authorized in the U.S. Click here to learn more about boosters.
